Tackled by Love by Rachael Duncan Blog Tour and Review

Synopsis
Landon Stone has it all. He’s the star quarterback for one of the powerhouse teams in a professional football league, has a beautiful supportive wife cheering him on, and plenty of money to support him for the rest of his life. Autumn McCray has lived in the same small town her whole life. Being tormented and bullied throughout high school, she has those constant reminders surrounding her every day. Having put most of those demons behind her, she’s forced to confront them once again and find her inner strength in order to move forward.

With Landon and Autumn’s paths crossing, they both are faced with obstacles they never imagined they would have to overcome. Will they help each other with their struggles, or be left to tackle them on their own?

MY REVIEW: 4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed this book. Let me start by saying that when I started reading it I was so glad that I didn't have to like Valerie because I couldn't stand her after just reading her description (I even messaged Rachael to let her know that). I know I shouldn't dislike someone based on their looks, but I read Landon's description of her and I was like "Thank heavens I don't have to like her!". I don't think I would have been able to cheer on their relationship because I just couldn't stand that b*tch. Beyond that though, I really liked this book. I thought the characters were great, they were likable and real and you were cheering for them. I loved Autumn and her best friend's relationship. I loved that Landon was basically just a good guy that picked the wrong girl way back when. He basically apologizes for not realizing that Autumn had it so rough back in high school and that he didn't stop it. He was just a great guy. I also loved his parents, they were great especially his mom.  I like that there was a little bit of mystery in the book and that everything wasn't happy go lucky from the start of their relationship. They had to work on it and work through things. I know that this isn't Rachael very first book (she is one half of Lena Nicole) but I thought this was a great debut for her solo career. I would recommend this book to everyone. It has some mystery, someone starting over from basically nothing and trying to do it not just complaining about how tough life is, some sexiness and some fun. Everyone should check it out. - Jennifer
Excerpt
In a quiet, husky tone, Landon says, “I don’t know what it is about you, but I can’t help myself. I want to devour every inch of your skin every second I’m with you, and I think about all the places I want to feel you when I’m not.” And if I didn’t need new panties before, I definitely do now. I’ve never had a guy turn me on like this with simple words. His eyes remain on the road, but each syllable has left a hot trail straight to my most intimate parts. Because my brain has completely fizzled out, I’m left speechless. “Did I scare you?” He glances over at me with a sexy grin on his face.

“No, just processing. I’ve never had a guy talk to me that way before.” I look out my window, nervous to meet his eyes.

“And how am I talking to you?” His tone is commanding, like he wants to hear exactly what he does to me.

“Like you’re going to eat me alive and do things I couldn’t possibly recover from.” My voice comes out breathy as my own desires become quite obvious.

“I wouldn’t mind eating something, but I promise you’ll survive it, sweetheart. Barely.” My eyes widen and my skin instantly heats up all over. He gives me a knowing look and responds with a wink. My mouth goes completely dry and I suddenly have a very vivid imagination that runs wild with all the things he could do to me.

“Okay. It’s settled. One date.” Lifting his palm, he pressed it against my cheek, holding it there. My skin tingled on contact, burning me in all sorts of ways. “But I think we need to try something out beforehand just to make sure that we know what we’re getting ourselves into.” “Um, what?” I stiffened, panicking at the possibilities of what he was saying. Sweat formed along the back of my neck, but I couldn’t move to wipe it away. Fuck. This wasn’t good. Without warning, he pressed his mouth against mine, taking my heart, body, entire soul by complete surprise. Ky captured me in all the ways a woman wanted to be captured by a man. And oh, what a damn delicious capture it was. I’d always wondered what it’d be like to kiss this boy. And it wasn’t because I saw him in that sort of light growing up either, just simple curiosity, to say the least But whatever preconceived notions I had about awkwardness and painful teeth clashing went out the window the moment his tongue pressed against my lips. Holy hell. Now this was a kiss. His fingers, strong and sure, tangled in my hair, releasing my ponytail with the flick of his thumb. Damn, he was good. My hair fell over my shoulders, shadowing my cheeks, as well as his. I scooted forward, pressing my hands onto the bareness of his neck, tracing the lines of his muscled skin on his shoulders like I’d wanted to do since I first got him in the room with me. I moaned, embarrassingly loud because yeah, this was beyond any kiss I’d ever experienced in the past. Slow, agonizing, and perfect. Ky made the act of kissing as sensual as having sex in a steamy shower. Not that I’d ever actually experienced hot, steamy shower sex or anything. But um, yeah, it was definitely on my bucket list.

Review
4 Stars because it is emotional and heavy
Finding Her Way Back is a beautifully written novel of self discovery by Author Heather Van Fleet.   Callie has had her share of troubles, and is in for more but, if she can finally trust herself, she will have her best friend Ky to help her through yet another family drama.  Between her sister being a Bridezilla and her parents ability to pretend their family is perfect she is wondering why she even came home for the summer.  Enter Ky, her former best friend that she deserted when she left for school-despite him being there for her when she needed him most.  Ky has grown up and now that his muse is back in town, he's determined to get her back. But Callie has too many walls around her heart-can Ky break them?  Though the problems facing her are deep and heavy, the way this is written keeps the pages turning and makes you want to read Finding Her Way Back in one sitting.
Anyone who loves new adult drama would love this book.--Beth

Excerpt: “You played me,” he said, but he didn’t sound mad. He sounded impressed.

“It worked,” I said, pride suffusing my tone. “But the scrapes are real.”

“Yeah, I feel terrible. Shall I go hunt down a Band-Aid for you now? Oh wait. You carry them with you. You’re always prepared.”

“You never know when you might have to take a fall to be first,” I said, and rooted around in the front pocket of my backpack for a Band-Aid. I found one, peeled off the wrapping and started to press it onto my palm.

“Let me help,” he said in a soft voice, laying the ends of the Band-Aid onto my skin. He stepped closer, his body now officially in the zone of supreme nearness–the zone that would allow for hands to explore chests, and arms to be wrapped around necks, and lips to lock again. I held my breath. My hands tingled under his touch. “This is the part in the script where the reformed bad boy touches the heroine for the second time,” he whispered.

I wanted to close my eyes and linger in the moment. But I had to be stoic. I couldn’t say what I wanted to say. That this was the moment when the heroine’s skin raced from the barest touch. So I lied. “This is the part where the heroine doesn’t even notice.”

He raised an eyebrow. He held my gaze. I didn’t look away in enough time. My breath caught, and my lips were parted. “Hi,” he whispered in a voice that was getting under my skin.

“Hi,” I said against my better judgment, against my brain.

“Are we still on for the movie tomorrow?”

“You’re just asking me out because I’m the competition, right? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?”

“I’m asking because I want to go out with you. Not because you’re the enemy.”

I scoffed. “At least you admitted I’m the enemy. That’s why you’re asking me.”

He raised his hand, reaching gently for a strand of my hair. My feet felt wobbly with him so near to me. The earth was suddenly operating at a bizarre angle. I pressed my palm against the brick wall behind me to steady myself as he ran a finger along my hair. So softly. “I swear,” he whispered, pinning me with his gaze. “I truly want to see the movie with you. Say you’re still going with me.”

My Review:  4 Stars
I try to read books a few weeks in advance before reviews, but things have been super crazy lately around my house. Because of this I didn't get a chance to start this until a few day ago, and holy crap did this book hook me. I had a very hard time putting down this book. I just had to keep reading a little bit more because I had to know what was going to happen. I liked Sophie's character from the start. She wakes up in bed with a stranger and then her one night stand is suddenly the topic of conversation on campus because of a TMZ like gossip site, she could have hid from life, dropped out of school and all sorts of other things but she doesn't, she holds her head up high and decides to figure out who is behind it all. And Luke, what can I say about Luke. Luke is just a really nice guy, he walks Sophie home the morning after their one night stand and when the website just tries to shame Sophie he steps up and admits his part in it. From there on out the two of them are just fun to read about. I liked the relationship that they developed. They bring out the best qualities in each other. I also loved Sophie's friendships with Kate, Willa and Courtney. The girls have fun together and make me miss my college buddies. Oh, and as a member of a sorority, the whole recruitment process brought back many memories (I swear no one in my sorority was a big of bitch as the girls in here). All and all, I really enjoyed the book. It was fun, it had mystery and humor, scandal and bit of sexiness and it was a really great quick read that I would recommend to everyone who loves new adult romances.
