My Review: 4 Stars
If you have read any Jessie Evans books before you will notice this book has her wit and characters that aren't one dimensional, but what makes this book (and the series, I will post my review of the first book in a few days) different is the steam factor. I have read and enjoyed both the Always a Bridesmaid series and the Fire and Icing series but those books do not have the steam that is in this series. Don't get me wrong, I have loved both of those series, but they weren't as sexy as this one and they didn't have to be, it worked perfectly for those series. Just like the sexiness works for this series. The setting, the story, the characters, everything made for a little more sexy story.
I met Bubba Lawson in Leather and Lace and knew that he was this hot, nice guy that didn't really realize his own appeal and that he had a fabulous voice that he wasn't using for anything other than the occasional karaoke with friends. In Saddles and Sin, Bubba finally decides to do what he loves and he meets Marisol, who becomes his manager. Marisol is a tough girl to get to know because she has taken so many knocks in her life. But the two hit if off instantly and become fast friends. When everyone seems to be getting sick back at home on the Lawson ranch, nice guy Bubba postpones his future to help his family out. This drives career driven Marisol crazy and she decides to go back home with him. In doing this a lot of things come out about both characters and you get to see many different sides to them, like Bubba's caring side when he realizes Marisol has been hurt in the past, to his more dominant side that likes a little kink in the bed. This book made me angry, made me sad and made me smile. I really love when I book actually pulls emotions out of me, not just me reading about the emotions the characters are going through.
I find Jessie Evans' books to be a quick read for me but that could be because I get pulled in and just don't want to stop reading. Seriously, I read the third book from the Always a Bridesmaid series first in about one day, and then bought and read the first two of the series over the next day and a half. Her books just suck me in. I recommend this to anyone looking for a sexy cowboy/singer read.
